While some believe the UFO phenomenon is a recent fad, there have been numerous incidents recorded throughout history that detail the same flying objects in the sky, sometimes descending to Earth or even engaging in aerial battle. Such is the case of the Nuremberg celestial phenomenon, an occurrence that many ufologist’s claim as historical evidence for alien visitors.
On the morning of April 14, 1561, residents of the German town of Nuremberg were awaken by an event the like of which they had never seen. Thousands of townspeople witnessed what could only be described as a full-on aerial battle between hundreds of flying spheres, cylinders and other oddly-shaped objects.
The event started at around 5 a.m., when two blood-red crescent-shaped objects were seen in the sky. They were soon followed by a “partly dull, partly ferrous black colour” sphere and several cylinder-shaped objects. A few hundred smaller spheres were then ejected from the cylinders and engaged battle. A broadsheet from the same day described their flight as erratic, similar to the zigzag flight patterns exhibited by modern UFOs.
According to witnesses, the objects “fought vehemently with each other for over an hour.” At the peak of their conflict, a large black triangular shape appeared, after which the objects ceased their activity and fell down from the sky “as if they all burned.” They crashed on a nearby field, exploded and caused a large fire and a large pillar of smoke visible from several miles away.
According to sceptics, this phenomenon is nothing but an allegorical tale caused by a natural phenomenon. On the other hand, UFO enthusiast have labelled it as a clearly-described aerial battle between opposing sides or even a show of power. It is worth noting that at the time, Nuremberg was a prestigious city inhabited by wealthy nobles, not easily impressed peasants.
Interestingly enough, two years prior to the Nuremberg incident, another sighting was visible in the skies. Witness accounts tell of “knights fighting in the sky with fiery swords.”
Perhaps the future will shed light on this enigmatic manifestation. Perhaps this strange event in the sky will happen again in our lifetime…..the battle for earth!?
