We recently asked you guys for YOUR questions to Nick Pope, John Burroughs and Jim Penniston (John and Jim were two of the key witnesses to the Redlesham Forest incident) and we now have your answers!
Nick Pope has kindly agreed to answer the questions in full and has come back with some very thought provoking/interesting answers!
As most of you will know Nick is ex British Ministry of Defence (MOD) and in his time spent a long stint being responsible for the UK’s UFO investigations, which even though he has now retired from the MOD he is still hungry for the TRUTH.
Nick has become a very popular face in the UFO world of research, he was part of the team involved with the ‘Citizen Hearing’ event back in 2013, answering questions and discussing about the events that happened in Rendlesham Forest – Nick has worked closely with John Burroughs and Jim Pennsiston, in order to help try and uncover what they had witnessed that night back in 1980. Nick, John and Jim all helped put together the incredible book ‘Encounter in Rendlesham Forest‘ (U.I.P highly recommends to you all).

Nick has attended many TV shows and news channel interviews throughout the world and has appeared as contributor on numerous US and UK documentaries on networks including Discovery Channel, History Channel, National Geographic and the BBC.
Nick also lectures all around the world, has addressed the Oxford Union and the Cambridge Union Society, as well as speaking at the Royal Albert Hall, the Science Museum and Global Competitiveness Forum 2011, where other speakers included President Bill Clinton and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair….BUT now our U.I.P followers it is YOUR time to ask the questions to Nick Pope.

Nick Popes Answers to your questions
Question: I have a couple of questions please (1) what does John Believe it is he saw in the Forest that night? And (2) Nick do YOU believe Aliens are visiting us? Thank you (Scott Wicker)
Answer: I don’t think there’s any definitive ‘you can take that to the bank’ proof, but there’s plenty of intriguing evidence, and I certainly remain open-minded about the possibilities. We should always bear in mind that the skeptics need to be right every single time, but the believers only need to be right once! (N.P)
Question: for both, Nick and John. I’m interested in Glowing Orbs phenomena, similar to Hessdalen Lights or Fire, recently seen over Massachusetts, and few more places across America and the rest of the world. So, do you think that those glowing orbs have any connection with bigger form of intelligent life? Sent like patrol, and do they observe us in a way, since they reveal their existence, or there is something bigger in question? (Matea Pandzic )
Answer: Orbs are certainly a global phenomenon, but as with UFOs, I very much doubt that there’s a single, neat solution that’s going to explain every sighting. So, as with the wider UFO phenomenon, there are likely to be several things going on here, in parallel: some misidentifications, some hoaxes, and maybe something else. (N.P)
Question: Nick and John I have both read your fantastic book, thank you! Question to you both, do you believe that what John saw that night was there for a reason and will one day return?! (Mikey)
Answer: Thank you for your kind words about our book. I’m glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting. I think it’s clear that whatever John Burroughs, Jim Penniston and others encountered in Rendlesham Forest was under intelligent control. That being the case, it was certainly there for a reason. As to whether or not it will return, I don’t know. I certainly hope so. (N.P)
Question: Does John think they were malevolent or benevolent aliens? Do they think when we finally get disclosure will it be a watered down version or full disclosure??(Rex)
Answer: It depends what there is to disclose. If there’s a spaceship in a hangar smoking gun, fair enough, there’s something tangible to reveal, but what if the situation is less clear-cut? What if even the authorities have no clear idea of what’s going on? That’s why I make the distinction between disclosure with a big D and disclosure with a little d. (N.P)
Question: My question for Nick is if disclosure comes, will is negatively or positively affect the world’s religious beliefs and the world Government system? (Anietie Joseph Stephen)
Answer: It’s almost impossible to answer questions like this, because there are so many variables. But I attended two Royal Society discussion meetings in the UK back in 2010 that addressed questions such as this, and interestingly, the consensus was that barring some “Independence Day” style alien invasion, simply announcing the discovery or existence of extraterrestrial life might not have the big impacts people often think about. The main reason is that so many people already think this is a reality, and self-evidently, you don’t shock people by telling them something they already believe. Theologian Ted Peters has done some specific research into the likely implications for religion, and far from finding that the existence of alien life would shatter people’s faith, he found it would reinforce their religious belief, by making God’s creation seem even more expansive. One can clearly see the Catholic Church positioning itself for such an announcement. Do they know something? I doubt it. Are they hedging their bets so they can say “we told you so”? Very possibly! Question: Has there ever been an alien incident where they have gained entry to the air force bases that they know of? (Rex Kelly )
Answer: There have been plenty of cases where UFOs have been seen in close proximity to military bases, and indeed directly overhead, but I can’t recall anything that would fit the description “gained entry”. That said, a UFO over a close to a military base is, in and of itself, a security issue. (N.P)
Question: Has there been any more progress deciphering the code imprinted on john (Vanessa)
Answer: It’s Jim Penniston – and not John Burroughs – who’s associated with the binary code message. Work on this real-life Da Vinci Code is continuing, and an eclectic mix of computer programmers, esoteric authors, cryptographers, physicists and ufologists are struggling to make sense of the codes. A potential decoding of the message was given in our book on the case, “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest”, but people are digging deeper, to see if there’s a message hidden deeper in the code. If I still worked at the MoD I could have asked GCHQ to try to crack the code (and maybe they’ve tried to do this anyway), but now that I’ve left government service, these resources are no longer available to me. Question: I would love to ask nick pope & john Burroughs a question; what the best and most compelling evidence of UFO and alien existence you have witnessed and why? And was this evidence ever released or seen by the public? Many thanks (Cj Bird)
Answer: I think the most compelling UFO incident that I’ve come across is the Rendlesham Forest incident, and if you’ll forgive a book plug, I put the best available evidence in “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest”, the book on the case that I co-authored with John Burroughs and Jim Penniston. (N.P)
Question: And for plate shaped UFO’s, do they have any connection with the military, because I believe the most of real seen UFO’s are military connected., so the last question remains; where they got that kind of technology? Thank you. (Matea Pandiz)
Answer: UFOs come in all shapes and sizes, but so do aircraft and drones, so it’s often difficult to tell whether some UFO sightings are misidentifications of secret prototype aircraft/drones, or something else. In strictly aerodynamic terms, however, saucer-shaped craft are very difficult to fly. (N.P)
Question: Does Nick/John think these UFOs we are seeing as lights and orbs are extra-dimensional?(Evon Aherne )
Answer: I don’t know. A few years ago such a concept would have been dismissed as science fiction, but now, scientists at the Large Hadron Collider are openly discussing the possibility that the LHC will discover proof of so-called “hidden dimensions”, so who knows? (N.P)
Question: I’d like to ask about the something I heard about the president’s book of secrets. Of course it is a secret so may not be easy to answer, but…I’ve heard there was 1 hostile/aggressive encounter. Do u have any info on this encounter? Thanks! (Julie Moore)
Answer: I suspect the idea that there is a “President’s Book of Secrets” owes more to fiction than fact, but I guess if such a thing exists, there may well be information about UFOs in it. (N.P)
Question: Do they believe official full disclosure will happen anytime soon? (Dave Avery)
Answer: With the declassification and release of various country’s UFO files we’re arguably already getting disclosure with a little d. As to disclosure with a big D, as I’ve said previously, it depends what there is to disclose. (N.P)
Question: Is the top secret TR-3B a reversed alien technology from other secret bases besides area 51? And which aliens are we working with between the 4 types that we know of. And last, is there any truth the illuminati group and are they have connections to alien alliances?(David Brooks)
Answer: If we had extraterrestrial technology I’m certain we’d try to back-engineer it, but so far as I’m aware, all the top secret prototypes we have are the product of decidedly human ingenuity. I don’t buy into theories about the Illuminati, I’m afraid. (N.P)
Question: Nick/John – what do they think of the possibility that the world really is already run by either one or several Alien races? And that is why we the ordinary people of the human race never get to know the real truth. (Teemu Nyholm)
Answer: I don’t believe such theories at all. If aliens are secretly running the world, they’re doing a pretty poor job. (N.P)
Question: What am I possibly seeing when I look up (with telescope) at night, e.g., bright blue lights, pulsing, more than 1 at times, – an always moving at incredible speeds, and impossible manoeuvring stopping, then moving off at different angles, side by side, I saw this on 2 diff locations (like the lights were playing, almost,) on different nights, months apart,
What could I be seeing in the late-night skies, every other night? (Christopher Leigh Hamilton)
Answer: It’s almost impossible to say from a description only, and I recommend that you contact an organisation such as BUFORA or ASSAP, so that they can investigate these sightings thoroughly. (N.P)
Question: Have you heard of a pulse drive technology? Is this from alien involvement or is technology from our government. And what do you think of ancient aliens program and the truth behind the show….(David Brooks)
Answer: I’ve heard of pulse drive technology, though as ever, there’s something of a dogfight over this, between theoretical physicists and engineers. In other words, it’s one thing to come up with theories and ideas, but it’s quite another to actually build something! I’ve appeared on “Ancient Aliens” many times, but I don’t buy into the central premise of the show, so I confine my interviews to my own areas of knowledge and expertise. Love it or hate it, the show has been a huge success and has done a lot to show TV network executives just how much interest there is in all this. (N.P)
Question: Nick, He sits on the fence sometimes and yet says something and then nothing. Do you still have to be careful with what you say Nick as I have read that you cannot disclose specific information until so many years after working for the MOD? (Peterkirklive Bideford)
Answer: I’ve heard the accusation that I “sit on the fence” and while I take the point, I think it stems from the fact that unlike true believers or die-hard debunkers (who are absolutely certain that their view is correct) I’m not afraid to say “I don’t know”. But to answer the specific question, my secrecy oath (The UK’s Official Secrets Act) binds me for life, and inevitably this places limits on what I can say. (N.P)
Question: when is NASA going to tell the TRUTH. Do you believe NASA are hiding secrets from us about the UFO’s? (Daniel Vargo)
Answer: I know a few people in NASA and the funny thing is that they’re quite open to a lot of this. A lot of other scientists criticise NASA for being too keen to say “aliens”. Look at the row over the Martian meteorite, cited by NASA as being evidence of fossilised microbial extraterrestrial life. Many scientists accused NASA of jumping the gun and being too credulous. Most NASA/UFO theories revolve around people spotting anomalies in NASA’s own photos and videos, so it would be a pretty inept cover-up if the gatekeepers of this great secret kept slipping up and accidentally releasing evidence of extraterrestrial activity. Question: Nick – Whilst working for the MOD, did you come across something or maybe some secret video project related to aliens, which makes you want to carry on exploring the aliens even after you have left your job? (Dalibor Lalic)
Answer: No, I didn’t. But the mystery was too exciting to abandon and the question of whether or not we’re alone in the Universe is one the biggest and most profound questions we can ask, so that’s why I stay involved, long after I stopped working for the government on this issue. (N.P)
Question: Are we ever going to unite with Alien neighbours? When there was an intergalactic fight in the sky long ago, were they protecting us/earth – is there any proof of this?? (PJ Trivium)
Answer: If there are other civilisations out there, I’m sure that we’ll take our place alongside them at some stage. But there’s no proof of ancient battles between alien races, with the earth being protected somehow. (N.P)
Question: Jordan 1996 British Army I was witness to a UFO nick was this ever reported to you (Maximus Orillias Price)
Answer: My time on the MoD’s UFO project (N.P)
Question: Nick – I read an article the other day, I’ve tried to find it again to double check names, (it was on another page) but it appeared to dismiss the whole Rendlesham thing. A guy I think called Conroy who was a superior officer, claims the whole thing was a hoax. Perpetrated by other US. Personnel after the original investigating guys confused the nearby lighthouse for an alien craft. He even said the Geiger counter picked up nothing unusual. Which contradicts everything I had heard previously. Are Mr Pope and the others aware of this, and have they retained any physical evidence, other than what we know already exists. I.E the actual radio/ phone tapes etc.? It sounded to me like a smokescreen to undermine the actual facts of the case, I can’t believe so many military personnel would confuse a fricking lighthouse for a UFO over 2 separate nights but I’m curious if they are aware of this sideways shift in the story? Answer: I’m not sure what article you’ve seen, but the senior officer you mention is almost certainly Colonel Ted Conrad, who was the base commander at the time of the incident. One ufologist claims to have spoken to him, but I’m not aware of any independent corroboration of this, so it’s far from certain this actually happened. As for the theory about the lighthouse, this is being perpetuated by an amateur astronomer dishonestly trying to position himself as an expert on the case. The lighthouse isn’t even visible from most of the locations from which the UFO was seen, so this theory holds no water.(N.P)
Question: Is the latest outbreak in the past 5-10 years of “mainstream” media covering and reporting and UFO activity (i.e. documentaries, news reports, movies etc.) an attempt at a global preparation of acceptance?(Mitchell Keena)
Answer: I don’t think so. I think it simply reflects the fact that TV network executives, newspaper editors and other media professionals recognise that there’s huge public interest in this subject at the moment. (N.P)
Question: Hi I have a question:
The base air traffic controller stated that he saw an inbound bogey coming in extremely fast, however it then flew onto Bentwaters airfield right alongside the ATC tower and then stopped, hovered with bright multi coloured lights and was massive, only to then shoot off at unbelievable speed.
Can he comment on the validity of this storey and was it witnessed by other personnel at the base? (Tony Eve)
Answer: We detail some of the radar data relating to this case in “Encounter in Rendlesham Forest”, name the personnel involved, and reproduce one of the key MoD documents relating to radar evidence. This is certainly one of the most important and best-evidenced aspects of the Rendlesham Forest incident. (N.P)
Question: “Yes” or “No” do you believe the Roswell incident was indeed a crashed UFO? (Nic Jarvis)
Answer: No.
Question: I would like to know where I should go on vacation to most likely have a UFO sighting. (Jody Kyle Faulkner)
Answer: Probably Rendlesham Forest! It’s still an active location, by all accounts. In America, you can probably hang around Area 51, but anything strange you see may just be the next generation stealth fighter. (N.P)
Question: If it is true that the reptilian control the illuminati, so it means that reptilian are a threat to humanity? Or is this all one big made up story? (Agnes Dolosa)
Answer: It’s all one big made up story. (N.P)
Question: Nick – ok here is a question… Could the mysterious humming sounds that are heard around the UK be caused by a hidden Alien communication station located near or in the forest? A friend of mine says that apparently the sound is super intrusive that people have committed suicide because of it. (Renata Gill)
Answer: I’m sceptical about this theory, and suspect it has more to do with power lines than with anything extraterrestrial. (N.P)
Question: Could you ask Nick on his views of UFOs using Lightning as a power source? I have been lucky enough to have seen this seen several during a thunder and lightning storm and would like to know his opinion? (Robbie Hodson)
I’ve heard various theories about what any visiting extraterrestrials might be using for power, including water, nuclear energy and lightning. They’re all good theories, I think, but the honest answer is that we simply don’t know. It’s all just speculation. (N.P)
Question: Do they think that it’s the ETs who are stopping disclosure from happening and not the governments?? (Chris Davis)
Answer: There’s certainly some logic in the argument that if we’re being visited by intelligent extraterrestrials, they – and not our own governments – would be setting the agenda. But again, the honest answer is that we simply don’t know. (N.P)
Question: In 2012 in the month of July I was on vacation with my daughter in Greece on the island of Lefkada, for 3 days in the sky there were three unknown objects shaped fireball coming down at high speed, stopped and then made the rounds and stunts above me and my daughter to a supersonic speed that any land vehicle would not have been able to do. It seemed that these fiery objects were playing with us, we were changing the direction of the car and they did the same, when we were still, even these unknown objects were standing. The day we boarded the ship to Italy, these three objects have skirted the ship doing frighten all passengers, rose shooting then descended on us giving impression that they would hit the ship, then they went racing .. .. All this and lasted about two hours, after which they stopped on the ship for about 5 minutes and then departed rocket disappearing from sight in about 10 seconds. All passengers were terrified, see 3 balls of fire that turned around the ship giving impression that at any moment to another we would hit and sunk … but then are splashed up and disappeared…. I do not understand why these 3 fireballs have done all this, because we have passed two hours of terror on the ship if he showed that they did not want to hurt any of us??? In your opinion what is the point to do all this and then fly out after letting us take a great fear??? (Nina Rubino)
Answer: Thank you for sharing this fascinating account, and I’m sorry that everyone was so scared by this. I can only suggest that you contact a UFO organisation such as MUFON, and ask that they conduct a full investigation into what happened. (N.P)
Question: Can you ask either of them if they have heard of ‘Daryll Anka’ who apparently channels another being called ‘BASHAR’… And what do they think of him and the details of the history and future of our race as well as the 2015/16 events leading up to 2025/30 first contact?? (Alex Summers)
Answer: The old intelligence analyst assessment “interesting if true” applies to Bashar and indeed to all channelled information. If any of this is to be accepted as true, we’d need some proof, e.g. a solution to some unsolved mathematics problems such as the P versus NP problem. Until and unless Bashar can come up with a solution, there’s no need to take any of these people seriously.(N.P)
Question: Nick in your opinion, do you personally think the triangles are man-made? We have seen them twice and we can’t explain how they could be…?(Melissa Sanders Giger)
Answer: Some delta and triangular-shaped UFOs are almost certainly secret prototype aircraft and drones, but as for the rest, we don’t know. As I often say, the believers only have to be right once. (N.P)
2 Questions – Jim Fisher
1) Is it really possible a shadow organization within our government keeps information from the president…..Truman didn’t know about the A bomb until he was president …..If so, who really controls our government?
I’m sceptical about this, because the President – as Commander-in-Chief – is the only person authorised to launch military action. So it’s difficult to envisage any circumstances under which the President wouldn’t be briefed on all this. (N.P)
2) What if these visitors are really time travelling humans, coming back to research ancient history? I personally believe many of the sightings are just that….not aliens from another planet just humans from the future. …?
Do they have any thoughts on this?
Answer: Theories about time travel are just as valid as those about extraterrestrials, or other dimensions. The truth is, we simply don’t know.(N.P)
Question: What’s taking so long for them to make contact with everyone not just random people?? (Frank Camarillo)
Answer: We should try to avoid taking an anthropocentric view of the situation, and realise that not everything revolves around us. If we’re being visited by extraterrestrial civilisations, the chances are that they’re considerably more advanced than us, so they’ll be setting the agenda and the timescale – not us. (N.P)
Question: To Nick Pope: in your opinion, do you think disclosure could happen this year or will there be a false flag event? I feel the more we are coming to disclosure the more the powers that be are creating wars as diversion (Nile Jordan)
Answer: I’m not a believer in false flag events (I don’t believe in conspiracy theories about 9/11) and as for disclosure, as I’ve said before, it depends what there is to disclose. (N.P)
Question: I would like information on the rumours of an Earth/ alien solar system space fleet rumoured to exist with a list of non-terrestrial officers also, any information on alien bases on the moon.(Michael Howard)
Answer: Such claims are based on the work of computer hacker Gary McKinnon, and I’m afraid I can’t evaluate of this. Again, “interesting if true”. (N.P)
Question: Just want to ask nick Pope his thoughts on the Dudley Dorito UFO?? (Brian Horton)
Answer: There have certainly been some bizarre sightings in this area, but whether there’s a single explanation, I’m afraid I don’t know.(N.P)
Question: After 2 white light UFO sightings, I have seen a weird bat like creature appear out of an area of light in the night sky. Was that a mothman? Are mothmen connected to ufos? Do you believe in the Mothman myth?? (Rosalie Dunstan)
Answer: This sounds fascinating, but I’m not an expert on the Mothman theories, so I’m afraid I can’t offer any definitive explanation as to what you saw. (N.P)
Question: Why UFO are being sighted all over the world? Is the time near for them to be openly visible to human and why only now? (Tairain Dyaran)
Answer: I think the UFO phenomenon has always been global, but as to whether or not it’s time for them to be openly visible, I’m afraid that I don’t know. (N.P)
Question: I recently saw what I took for a UFO (I am thinking black triangle) but the light patterns were different that those previously reported. I am wondering with the amount of evidence available as to different shapes of craft how much evidence is there about different lighting patterns? (Richard Buie)
Answer: I think that for any meaningful trend analysis, as opposed to examining UFO sightings on a case by case basis, one would have to engage with an organisation such as U.I.P or MUFON. (N.P)
Question: Has there ever been an instance when a missing person returned from an abduction exactly the same way they were last seen or returned in a different country? (Tracer Hamilton)
Answer: Not as far as I’m aware. The best such case that I’m familiar with is that of Travis Walton, who had a UFO encounter and was declared missing, only to appear some days later and some considerable distance away. (N.P)
Question: We keep hearing dates for disclosure, Is there a very probable date or do we really don’t know??? (Johnny Styles )
Answer: We don’t really know, though I’m tempted to say that when the Square Kilometre Radio telescope is fully operational, towards the end of the 2020s, we’ll be able to detect any other civilisations in this small corner of our Milky Way galaxy. (N.P)
Question: Can you ask Nick if he thinks activity has spiked all over the world or is it that more people are aware and now there is a camera in most people’s hands 24/7 making documentation easy? Just interested to see if what we are seeing is record sightings. (Hashim Yilmaz)
Answer: I think it’s a chicken and egg situation. We don’t really know whether or not sightings have increased, or whether it’s simply that because more people carry cell phones capable of taking photos or videos, we have more data.(N.P)
I have a few questions to both gentlemen… (Obviously they are quite a few lol so if not possible to answer all, I would be happy with answers to whichever ones they or you choose) First of all, I want to say THANK YOU to both of them for agreeing to do this as well as UIP for arranging it all. My questions are:
Regarding the Rendlesham Forrest Incident….
1) Why Rendlesham Forrest? Why do you think these beings, whoever they are chose to land there and what is the reason there has been so many sightings in that particular area? What do you think or know they were doing there? Why is that particular place on Earth of such interest to them?
Answer: I suspect that RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge are inherently more interesting than Rendlesham Forest.
2) Did you feel any different physically or mentally during and after the incident?
N/A
3) Do you think whoever was there was aware you too where there? Do you think they knew you saw them?
N/A
General Questions….
1) How many alien races are you aware of that are visiting us at this point?
Answer: We have no idea. The answer could be none, or it could be an incredibly high number.
2) Do you believe there may be one or more alien races that are actually protecting us and trying to help us and vice versa, do you believe one or more alien races have bad intentions towards us and want to harm us?
Answer: Again, sadly, I have no idea. I think we should try to get away from anthropocentric ideas of good aliens and bad aliens. The truth may be far more subtle and complex.
3) Why do you think aliens are interested in us? Do you believe they created us and have always been around (which is what I believe)? Or do you think we are in some way unique and special compared to other planets out there and they are probably just fascinated by us?
Answer: If we’re being observed by intelligent extraterrestrials, I suspect they’d be interested in us for the same reason that we’d be interested in them. They’d be scientists, explorers and anthropologists.
