U.I.P Salutes The Man Who Fell To Earth – And Helped Open Peoples Minds To The Universe

The 11th January 2016 was a very sad day for not just the music world, but also because it marks the departure of Ziggy Stardust, Major Tom and the many space travellers, adventures and tales of aliens and other worlds he created with his invented/alternative music.

David Bowie released many fine hits, many which opened the minds of many, with songs about space, aliens and UFO’s! His music inspired the world to rethink about the Universe and the wonders that could possibly lie out there!  With songs such as “Space Oddity” which was originally released on July 11th, 1969, only five days before the launch of Apollo 11. David Bowie had predicted the pull this song and this music would inevitably have on his career with the last line:

“Planet Earth is blue and there’s nothing I can do.”

David Bowies Starman lyrics appeared to be like some kind of message about the Extraterrestrials:

“There’s a starman waiting in the sky
He’d like to come and meet us
But he thinks he’d blow our minds”

The lyrics are from “Starman,” a song on “The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars,” David Bowie’s legendary concept album based on his alter-ego, Ziggy Stardust – a rock star messenger for the extraterrestrials. The name of the band comes from an alleged mass UFO sighting on October 27, 1954, during a football game at Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence, Italy. The match was supposedly halted when a group of large cigar-shaped UFOs traveling at a very fast speed reportedly stopped suddenly over the stadium filled with 10,000 people One player described glitter falling from the sky, a glitter that some compared to spider webs falling from spaceships from Mars.

David Bowie also often talked about UFO’s and apparently as a young child he had witnessed many UFO’s up ahead in England.  David’s wife Angela Bowie wrote a book which actually mentioned about UFO sightings.  Angela claimed that they were once driving in 1974 on a concert tour near Detroit and witnessed a UFO – strangely a UFO was later reported to have crashed in the local area with apparently ET’s on board, possibly caused by the US Air Force jets. There have also been rumors of such a crash around that time, including bodies being taken to a base and a TV crew being fired for reporting it!

U.I.P SUMMARY –  One thing is clear that as much as Bowie was an incredible music artist with his own unique style, he also showed a great deal of interest in what lies beyond planet earth – and he did this by expressing himself in his music and a couple of films that he starred in, like the ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ which was a film about a humanoid alien who comes to earth to get water for his dying planet.  Like most of the things that Bowie was involved with, this film appeared to have a very thought provoking message in it.  Some have even suggested that David was a man who knew more than he had made out about other words and ET.

Please see below a clip from ‘The man that fell to earth’film.

David Bowie was a unique man who gave his all to please the masses and perhaps with the below lyric which was in one of his most well known songs ‘Star Man’ he may have known in his own mind what was really going on in the Universe around us ~ Thank you for your music, uniqueness and most importantly thank you for helping to open this worlds minds and getting people to actually start thinking about what lies beyond.
